Stewarts have generously sponsored this next set of workshops by increasing the arts budget for Nina and local schools to develop a series of art projects. Nina has been involved in running Art Weeks for schools for 8 years and during this time has designed projects to work alongside existing projects, the International Primary Curriculum and projects that build on cross curricular links. This has included supporting Learning Outside the Classroom and the Creative Curriculum as well as enabling Healthy Schools’ outcomes and Enjoy and Achieve.

Projects can be designed to suit your current term's topics, Nina is always happy to give ideas for the content of workshops. You can also ask about funding sources to fund your workshop further for more information about the projects call Nina on 01258 458803.

Little Green Fingers Art Workshops 2014

In January, Stewarts Garden Centres Community Arts Project, Little Green Fingers and artist, Nina Squire, were invited for an art residency at Hillview Primary. We worked together to design a wet felt making workshop for the children to learn about the felting process through creating a flower meadow using merino sheep wool. It was a great team building experience and the children enjoyed working from one of Nina's illustrations for inspiration to create a beautiful felted flower meadow wall hanging for the school display. Through this collaboration the children are introduced to the fantastic work that Stewarts Garden Centre do to create a flourishing environment for our local wildlife and most importantly, bees, who are so important to our food chain. Stewarts are keen to support young gardeners and create an awareness of our natural surrounding. Stewarts have been supporting local schools and green art workshops for over 5 years through Little Green Fingers, a collaboration between artist, Nina Squire, and Stewarts. Stewarts fund art materials and offer a discounted rate for local schools to enjoy an art workshop. For a limited time, there are special discounted rates available for local schools, please contact Nina for more information.
Art helps children understand the beauty of the environment that we so often take for granted.

Making a textile out of wool felt is a great way of getting the children to work together

Nina Squire at our Bank Holiday Weekend

Nina Squire demonstrated her pastel animal portraits in store for August Bank Holiday. She also donated one of her illustrations of our New Forest Show flowering meadow to raise funds for the Dorset Air Ambulance, our chosen charity of the year. Nina runs art classes locally, takes commissions and is planning the next series of Little Green Finger Art Workshops with local schools. If you know a local school that would like art workshops, please contact Nina on 07967736762. There's still a few sponsored places with great art offers available.

Nina Squire, artist in residence, in our beautiful flower meadow at the New Forest Show

Local artist, Nina Squire, joined us at the New Forest Show, setting up a display within our beautiful flower meadow. Nina works locally on commissions of people and animals, also runs our very successful Little Green Fingers school art projects and runs art workshops in Holt and at Sandbanks Hotel.
Here's a picture of her working on the meadow illustration she created for us.
She's hoping to auction it for our local charity, Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, during August when she will be popping up at our centres. All proceeds will go straight to this very worthwhile charity.
Would you like it for your office walls?
Then get in touch with Nina to register an interest nina@thepastelartist.co.uk.
It would certainly make a lovely addition we think.

St Lukes Primary School and Nina Squire

We have been busy bees this year! Little Green Fingers visited St Lukes Primary School, artist, Nina Squire, worked with the children to create more fabulous felt panels. We worked out that Little Green Fingers worked with 1200 arty fingers that day! In fact we think we have worked with over 8,000 arty Little Green Fingers this year. What a fantastic achievement for Stewarts Garden Centres community art program, Little Green Fingers.
Does anyone else think the children look like little worker bees buzzing around their arty Little Green Fingers felts? Contact Nina 07967 736 762 for more information or look at www.thepastelartist.co.uk for information about the projects.
